Heather Karm Week 1 Hello Everyone, Content My name is Heather. I have 3 kids and married to my highschool sweetheart. My husband is actually some of my inspiration to my career choice. Him and his 6 siblings were foster children. I disagree with some policys in place and I am wanting to get my bachelors in Human and Social Services to eventually help write some of the policys we have in place today. Some of my strengths are going to definatly be problem solvling. I have always been able to figure it out no matter what it is or how difficult. Especially if I am very determined. I think another strength is going to be technology. I am not an expert but Im not bad with technology. Some of my weeknesses are going to be timemanagment and maybe study skills. I have never been great at figuring out the best way to study and rememebr things. I am also horriblle at time managment. I have so much going on and things are alwasy pretty chaotic at my house so juggling evreything all the time make sit to where i push certain things to the back and the sometimes dont get done. I am actually not sure what I plan to learn from this course that will help with those things. However I am very excited to start this course and see what I can learn from it. Its nice to meet everyone!

Beyond the Answer

It's inspiring to see such a personal motivation behind your career choice! The foster care system has a rich and complex history, and countless individuals like your husband have faced significant challenges. In the late 20th century, various reforms aimed to address the systemic issues of the foster care system, emphasizing the importance of stability and permanency for children. Exploring these historical changes can provide you with valuable insights as you work to improve policies today. Time management can often feel like a mythical beast, but it can be tamed! One effective technique you might like is the Pomodoro Technique—working for 25 minutes followed by a 5-minute break. This method helps maintain focus while preventing burnout and chaos. Additionally, using tools like digital calendars or task management apps can aid in juggling multiple responsibilities. Don’t forget to prioritize tasks and give yourself grace; it’s all part of the learning process!
